What are these black and white markers?

  1. Probably part of visual tracking of structural movement. The kind of thing they also do with lasers and strategically placed retroreflectors.

  2. Targets for laser scanning. Multiple point clouds of multiple scans can be coregistered and these are the tie points

  3. Checkerboard Targets for 3D Laserscanners. They allow you to scan entire train stations in a day and use the data for planning.

Here you can have a look at such a 2TB dataset in your browser (navigate with mouse/arrow keys on PC or push long and then slide up/down the orange/blue slider on touchscreen):

  4. Looks like something for construction or planning, btw the first photo looks quite good for being just for a post about these markers.

  5. It’s a reminder that the Wicked Witch only gave Dorothy that much time in the hourglass to live, so we should live life to the fullest.

  6. Weak points in infrareucture. If the enemys enter switzerland we just blow up essential infrastructure to hinder their movement. Likewise the bridges

  7. I feel really weird looking at the shots considering im at this exact area every morning going to work. Cant explain why.
