Hello, I was hoping someone who can translate written Norwegian could translate the part of this document in the black box which I think is a birth certificate written in an older form of written Norwegian.

2. It looks like a list of children that were babtized in a specific church in 1875.

   The handwriting is hard, but this is what I can decipher:
   **Date of birth:** June 20th
   **Date of christening:** only christened at home
   **The child’s full name:** Martin
   **Legitimate or illegitimate child:** illegitimate
   **Parents full name, occupation and place of residence:** (A bit hard to read this, and the black square covers some of the text, but it says the name of what I assume is the child’s mother, born in 1848, another number of year which I guess is the year the mother had her confirmation) Erik Syvertsen from (don’t understand the name of the place). (I don’t understand the last line, it says something about a widow I think?)
   **Godparent’s names:** (Something) Henriksen, (something) Jonsen. I don’t understand the handwriting of the rest, except that I think it says “dead before (something)” at the bottom.
   **If and by whom christened at home:** Christened by Inge Gjermundsen (I think)
   **With an illegitimate child, to whom is the task given, either the child’s mother or which known and trusted member of the congregation:** (Sorry, don’t understand what it says in this column)

3. The boy was baptized at home and died, probably the same day. His baptism was added to the church-book afterwards.

5. The mothers name appears to be:

   “Xxxxx Mari Persdtr f. 1848” – Xxxxx Mari Persdaughter born 1848.

   Father: “Ungkrl Erik Syversen fra Vinger f. 1850″ – Bachelor/unmarried Erik Syversen from Vinger (a former municipality in todays Kongsvinger), born 1850

   I assume the next lady may be his mother: ” Enke Gurine Olsdtr – Støa” – Widow Gurine Olesdaughter from a place name Støa.

   When it comes to the Xxxxx it might be Hustru – Hūstru – “housewife”. If you look at the row above and underneath, the same word is repeated. However that is a bit weird since the child was born out of wedlock.

6. Important: The names above Erik Syvertsen belongs to the child above Martin. It is Karen’s mother’s name and her maiden name.

   All the children are listed with their fathers name first, and then their mothers.

   I think the years listed are the parents year of birth (after “f”) and their year of marriage (after “v”). F is short for “født”, and V for “viet “.

   All churches kept records of their baptisms, deaths, and confirmations. Everything was written in books like this.

   The parents probably got a document of baptism, and that was what is similar to a birth certificate today. When you had you confirmation, you got a certificate for that. Martin was baptized at home and died before he got a certificate.
