From peasent’s son to almost Pope: Mattthäus Schiner (c. 1465-1522), who came from the Upper Valais, was a decisive figure in European politics during the height of Swiss power in Europe. He remains controversial to this day.

Some weeks ago, i was having some lovely Swiss exquisite dinner with friends and u can guess what it was … during the course of the nicht i found out that more or less the best variations of fondue were the Valais ones. At one moment one of the guys mentioned that the Valais are so good, only they can managing to handel Fifa for decades and i bet the next Pope will bea Valais too … we had a laugh. But i didn’t know that they had such a bright past already.
