Next time your employer asks you to come back to the office, show them this picture

  1. I severely doubt the accuracy of that. There wasn’t much traffic in Dublin in 2021 so I can’t believe that it is only 2 minutes worse now

  2. I work in the city centre and know very few people who drive to work. The couple who do come in early and finish up early, and by all accounts traffic isn’t that bad then.

  3. My place asked for 3 days a week now starting next week, Ive spent most of the weekend doing my CV. I’ll take a paycut not to be commuting hours on end to Dublin and driving the M50.

  4. Your employer won’t care

This is a you problem. If you feel that you’re not willing to accept the travel time for the renumeration you are receiving, either negotiate a new contract or find a new job

You’re a big boy now, these decisions are up to you, not your employer

  5. I don’t WFH but if I did, my employer would look at that, laugh and ask what the fuck it has to do with my Midlands based workplace and non-Dublin drove to work.

  6. Here’s a thought. Put it to your employer that you feel you are more effective working from home. Provide evidence of this.

For me personally I listed off all the times over a month I worked a couple of hours either side of office hours sorting stuff out… which I wouldn’t have been able to do if I had been commuting.

  7. Just about all civil service and state employees have the option of parking at work. I wonder how much lighter traffic would be if they actually had to pay BIK for this parking like anyone else.

  8. Funny enough was told to stop coming to site 2 days and do more remote work, feels I perform better at home and I’m less stressed. Has also had my contact changed with HR

My role is regional though so probably makes sense, don’t mind though have a great office setup

  9. This only works if you’re job can’t be done by someone else if you’re very replaceable you’re boss will just sack you
