New in Switzerland, which mattress would you say a good one here? I am not familiar w/ all brands here except Tempur. I will settle down here, so a good mattress is desirable. Preference: like sleeping on a cloud. Will go for mattress shopping next week but wanna get some insights beforehand.

  1. The Schlaflabor from BICO IN Schänis can help you find the right bed for you. Try it. Sinnce i got mine i sleep like a stone

  2. Best is you try all of them and see what fits to you best.

My wife and I had an argument. She wanted a Tempur, I wanted a Riposa.

We were ready to pay 3500.- for 180×200 size. Than we came across a Bico for the same list price, but the store had to clean their inventory and gave 60% discount. So, we took it.

It’s ok. Maybe not a Tempur or Riposa but ok. Buying Matresses is always plenty of luck.

  3. Casper mattresses are very reasonably priced and have great quality. Sleeping on mine since 3 years and it looks as new and has no signs of usage yet. Absolute nobrainer.

  4. Jysk and IKEA both have pretty good (and affordable) mattresses, so they might be worth a visit.

There’s no objective standard for mattress goodness, you should try some out to see what you like.

  5. Thanks everyone for the insights. It seems that in general the brand of mattresses do not really matter much (different than where I’m from). I will check out personally next week 🙂

  6. I’d start checking with Micasa and Ikea. It is hard to objectively show reasons why they’d be worse and if you’re comfortable on them, you may be saving a good bit of money.

Nothing wrong with Happy (which unfortunately got more expensive since I bought a good midrange mattress from them) or Bico either, but they cost more and often are even more expensive than individual direct import from Germany. I did that before from Ravensberger when Micasa/Ikea did have worse lineups that did not suit me – shipping+customs is expensive but the whole thing could end up cheaper regardless.

  7. This is so personal, you should find a specialised shop and try a few. I would never order a mattress I didn’t try before, at least an expensive one.
