On this day in 1869 Dmitri Mendeleev presents the first periodic table to the Russian Chemical Society.

  1. I’d have thought the Russians would have used their own Cyrillic script back then, but I suppose German(?) was the lingua franca of science back then, hence the Latin script?

  2. The periodic table is sheer genius on the level of Darwin or Einstein bur Mendeleev doesn’t seem to get the same recognition, at least here in UK.
