This time in Zurich

  1. TLDR: 12 students need to leave their flat (owned by the city of Zürich) in order to make room for Ukrainian Refugees. Hopefully they will find a new flat soon.

  2. ah yes the competitive market left them no choice. How the fu.. are students supposed to find something then if the city can’t? A shame really. I’m all for helping where we can but this is just not it.

  3. That’s more or less by design. Students cost the state money to raise. Well trained refugee are skilled labour with minimum upfront cost.

At least in macro-economics. Of course the theory is bullshit! People with kids are measurably more productive than those without. And they pay much longer into social programs.

But hey, bad economists do what bad economists do!
They also said we should only build exactly as much housing as we need to take out the most profit possible. And here we are, heavily overpriced housing due to an artificially dried out market.

  4. This is really using up a lot of goodwill that people had for Ukrainian Refugees. Especially in a country like Switzerlands thats already not a big fan of immigration.

Why are Ukrainians being housed in Apartments while other refugees are housed in Asylheime? I never heard of apartments being vacated for Syrian refugees….
