Could not stand the rookie numbers

  1. Why people like old Orval baffles me tbh. It only gets sweeter, it’s the bitterness that makes the beer Orval.
    Bitter = better.

  2. we tried 2 bottles from 1999, they couldn’t have been more different from the original or each other

  3. I’ve asked several professional brewers about this myth.
    All indicated that an Orval aged 5+ years isn’t that sought after, nor even liked by connaisseurs. Flavour peaks at 3 years (if you’re into that flavour) and from then on it’s diminishing returns. Yes you see crazy people ask crazy prices for 11 year old Orvallekes on secondhand markets, but it’s not worth the price at all, and mostly just hype.
