I would’ve adopted a cat from a rescue but I’m being selfish and childish but wanting a fluffy cat/specific breed what do you guys think
Expensive?! Yes.
Immoral? It depends if it is a registered breeder. If it’s a registered breeder then there is no problem whatsoever. In fact, many registered breeders here are very much concerned about animal welfare and will screen you before even agreeing to selling you anything.
I would steer clear off tori for puppies and kittens since many are just running mills and have no regards about animal welfare.
I honestly would suggest going to a shelter and seeing if there are any cats you fall in love with, if not its totally fine to get a cat from a registered breeder
I love cats. Loved them all my life. My mother joked I was only reason our family had cats, because I wasthe cat person. All my life we had 0 breed cats, until I turned 15 and got my cat Hannibal as a gift. He has been best gift of my life and tbh I probably will just get that breed in future. Breed isnt just the outside part, some catbreeds have some typical personalities. My cat is ragdoll, typically healthy breed, its pretty new breed so maybe it just havent had time to over breed. They tend to be more friendly to other cats, so getting another isnt that big of mystery will they fight or get along. Also they are child friendly breed, as person who wants kids. They dont also tend to climb that much and they are really social, my cat doesnt let me go bathroom alone and is pretty talkative.
Just make sure breeder is qualified in his job.
As a dog owner this is so weird. Why would it be immoral to go to a registered breeder?
Paying for a cat is encouraging cat breeding. Adopting is the way to go.
But cats are carnivours by nature so this means you wanting a cat means other animals must die. Paying for cat food increases demand and thus increases insentives to kill more animals.
I’m happy that you are thinking sbout the morals of purchasing an animal. Not many do.
I bought mine as kittens. They’re mixed cats, but were well taken care of by a caring person and not bred for profit alone.
I mean, sure, getting your cat from a shelter is a good thing to do, but sometimes they just don’t have the right cat for you. Buying from a breeder is not immoral.
Yes It is
No, but if you are thinking what I think you are thinking, be prepared for a surprise in food costs. If you want a big maine coon, you need to feed it a ton of meat (almost literally).
