>Those traveling by train will have to show a ticket more often on the platform or even in the station hall. Security guards from Securail will now do dozens of random checks in stations. The aim is to keep discussions and aggression off the train.

>For such a check, the security officers will set up at the entrances to the platform or on the platform itself, and then check the tickets of all passengers. Those who cannot show a ticket are not allowed to enter the train and must first purchase a ticket.

>The preventive checks by Securail security officers were already tested last year and seem to be paying off. ‘On average at these checks, about 4 percent of the passengers do not have a ticket, but there are peaks of up to 40 percent,’ says Hendrik Vanderkimpen, head of security at SNCB. For example, on trains with many students and to and from major events, there are more often more travelers without a valid ticket.

>’More frustrated travelers lead to more verbal violence’According to Vanderkimpen, the corona crisis encouraged tracks without tickets. There were fewer checks on trains then. After the crisis, train conductors stepped up checks again, but some travelers are proving to be intractable.

Wondering if this is an intermediate step to fully automate the ticket control with access gates in the long term
Allez, gelukkig kunnen nu de Securail mensen in elkaar geslagen worden in plaats van het boordpersoneel.
Meanwhile ticket gates work just fine in the UK, NL and Japan but the tech’s just *too advanced* for this country.
En als je iemand staat op te wachten op het perron? Perronstaan-bewijs van 9,90 euro :p
Sounds like an efficient use of employees in 2023.
How about gratis OV? Iemand?

In realiteit dus best ofwel uw ticket op zak hebben, ofwel uwe white-privelege-pass.
I met these yesterday for the first time. Was in Brussels midi and they were standing in front of the escalator.
They asked me for my ticket, I gave them my “abonnement”, they looked at it and gave it back, I was allowed to pass.
They didnt even scan it to check if it was still valid or not, seems like there are still some flaws.
I went to a De Lijn shop this morning to activate a subscription on my NMBS Mobib card. The lady was very friendly but she struggled with the system. Eventually everything was fixed and fine, but I think the tooling that De Lijn has for their employees is not user friendly. I haven’t taken the bus yet, it will be a surprise for me if it works (or not).
Deze week controle in Antwerpen centraal, spoor 24. Stond secure rail aan de trappen. Liften waren onbemand. 10/10 haha.
I have a paper abonnement which I don’t fill in until I get on board (in case of cancelled train)…
