Boris Johnson ‘nominates father for a knighthood’

  1. I nominate my mum for a livable state pension after a lifetime of work.

I nominate my colleagues who were clapped through Covid, for dignity, respect and fair pay.

I nominate anyone to fix our homelessness, addiction & and mental health crisis…

Probably not gonna happen. May as well go ahead and give the French guy a knighthood.

  2. I used to know a junkie like this. He’d steal stuff from right in front of people with no sense of shame.

  3. “Sir” Stanley Johnson

    “Sir” Gavin Williamson

Pisstake. These titles have no meaning anymore.

  4. This guy! What a joke.

Better than when he nominated a Russian spy because he invited Boris to sex parties at his villa, I guess.

Time to abolish the undemocratic joke the HoL is.

  5. Getting annoyed by the internal backslapping of the classes that still see value in these constantly devalued, worthless honours isn’t worth the energy.

Oh no my ideological opponent’s dad is a “sir”… shrug, “cool” I guess.

I see the monarchy as irrelevant to the modern world, as with all its trappings. Only those that pretend there is value there see value. Others see the eternal hypocrisy and cringe.

  6. Best not to get wound up about it.

Just another moment in the mutual elitist appreciation society.

The title will help in get into some fancy restaurants at a moment’s notice.

  7. Breathless. Absolutely breathless at his shamelessness, more fool me yet again.

  8. Just let him.

Let him 100% categorically prove the honors system is absolute nonsense anyway.

Let him bury any notion it means anything.

  9. Corrupt former PM does corrupt stuff, nobody is surprised any more. Nepotism is a game for all the family…

  10. Arsehole. This guy is just a gigantic, self serving asshole. How people fell for his loveable bumbling clown schtick still blows my mind.

  11. Seems fair. Just think of all the things Stanley has done for our country. There’s all the .. er umm. Then there was that time he .. ..

Nope, I’ve got nothing. Self serving liar and conman gifts title to family member. Again.

  12. >The paper said that the former prime minister’s list of nominations included up to **100** names.

Isn’t that the list that was “deferred” – like Alister Jack’s seat in the House of Lords – to avoid political embarrassment? I shudder to think what other numpties the corrupt buffoon Johnson has nominated.

On the plus side, it further undermines the ‘honours’ system and raises a snigger
whenever pompous figures like Baroness Michelle Mone of Mayfair or Lord George of Foulkes think they’re special because they’ve grandiose titles tacked on to their name.

Lest we forget the Russian bloke that Johnson also ‘elevated’ to the ‘Lords ; “Baron Lebedev, of Hampton in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and of **Siberia in the Russian Federation**”. His actually title. :O

  13. I wish he’d somehow oust rishi next year so he gets the chance to go to the country again and then see his face on election night when he realises the people have voted him out in their millions.

I want that moment. We deserve that moment.

  14. I like the honours system because it affords recognition to those who have contributed in some way to the UK and peerages allow a means of retaining valuable skill sets that are generally unencumbered by the politics of the day.

Handing out honours like this completely devalues its purpose and the fact he’s got a peerage to boot is obscene. If Sunak doesn’t block it then it’s basically an endorsement of cronyism in government, although with the recent spate of peerages and honours that have come out of the Conservative government I wonder if the damage has already been done.

Whether this is a fault inherent in the system is up for debate, I don’t think it calls for abolishment of the honours system but really a voting out of the Conservative government. Even if there were some accountability, they’d look to veto and find loopholes around it. Remember that the HoL did express their opinion for blocking a number of Bojos peerages but he overruled them. In my opinion, it isn’t about the honours system at all, it’s just another way the Conservative party are abusing their position in government.

  15. The September 1963 Regal Spaff Awards- pity he didn’t use a tissue or the ‘Exit’ method for that one as it really would have saved the country £350m a week..

  16. Good to know that the Johnson family can calmly and politely agree to disagree over political opinions that involve things like the EU referendum without any strong negative feeling.

Personally I’m not a fan of Stanley Johnson but good luck to him.
