  1. Two of my hobbies are folklore are heraldry (I know, right? I’m great at kids’ parties… anyway). So when I saw this unusual coat of arms I wondered if there was a story as to why the arms of one of the most prominent families of the kingdom of Poland had this unusual detail…. Any ideas welcome!

  2. According to this site:

Bowl is connected to name. “Korzec” was old-polish word for bowl (later it given name to old measuring unit for volume/ quantity of loose/ powdery materials). Dog was initially only dogs’ head. There is a legend that hungarian ancestor of family killed tyrant leader, who was called “the dog”, so then severed dog head was added to coat of arms to commemorate this event. Later dog head became half of dog and original silver bowl became golden bowl.

  3. Korczak family was known from boiling dogs in korzec (old Polish bowl) this is why there is dog in the bowl. Originally it was only boiled dog’s head, but in this version they painted full dog. May be fake. 🤔

  4. mogę spytać skąd pan jest? w mojej wsi (Zbydniów) była rodzina Horodyńskich o tym właśnie herbie
