Three women and two men missing for second day after night out

  1. Seems odd that they all went missing, so it likely an accident that got them all stuck somewhere and the police need to locate their bodies.

  2. I’m going to be more optimistic than others here and speculate they have been abducted by aliens and will be returned to us fit and well in due course.

  3. I know it’s very much not the point, but stories like this always make me think I should send my parents a really nice picture of me , just in case I go missing. As most of the pictures of me are either terrible, I’m wearing a mask, or are mostly cat

  4. With them heading to the beach you worry about rip tides as well, if they went in to the sea. Particularly if they’d been drinking.

It’s so easy to get into trouble, in the sea, let alone at night and while intoxicated.

  5. Surely mobile/tower data can give police a rough idea of where they are or where they were heading to before they lost battery?

BBC News Wales still hasn’t reported this story, I find that infuriating.

  6. There was this joke PSA tweet the other day that roughly said something like ‘Girls, stop using filters on every single photo. When you go missing people will not know how you really look”.

  7. I’m sure more will come to light tomorrow when the Press Team at Gwent Police are back at work, but this is hugely concerning.

The two theories people are suggesting so far, involve the Sea and an RTC.

No doubt there’s a lot of work being done around mobile phones right now; South Wales isn’t exactly the perfect place to utilise this, but it’ll be getting resourced extensively to find out what’s happened.

  8. How are people supposed to recognise the two are just filters? Some people are end up going missing and being completely unnoticed because none of their pictures actually look like them in real life

  9. It’s confirmed that Eve Smith is sadly deceased. Her sister has confirmed on Facebook. Rest in peace beautiful girl. It’s not looking hopeful for the others 😢

  10. > A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for information to find Sophie Russon, 20, Eve Smith, 21, and Darcy Ross, 21, all from Newport, who have been reported as missing.

    >”They had travelled there… with two men. These two men… have also been reported as missing.

That seems weirdly selective. “There are five people missing but we’re only looking for the three women”?

  11. Sadly:

    > Three people have been found dead after a car crash and two more taken to hospital with serious injuries, after five people were reported missing to police in Wales.

    > Gwent police announced early on Monday: “Following enquiries to locate five people who were reported as missing, officers have found the car they were last seen in, in the St Mellons area of Cardiff. The VW Tiguan was recovered just after midnight on Monday 6 March.

  12. I have no idea what two of those women look like, because the face filters are so fucking strong in the pictures. Not really ideal for a “have you seen this person?” alert…

  13. Crazy to think that they crashed around 3am Sat Morning and not found til around midnight Sunday, best part of 34 hours, probs thousands of cars would of passed them throughout the Saturday and Sunday day time not knowing they were there on that busy A road trapped inside, some dead, some alive, never mind how cold it was thrghout the nights, very sad for all
