COVID-19: Home testing kits have run out on government’s website

  1. This government in a nutshell.

    >It comes less than 24 hours after an announcement that daily testing would become mandatory for anyone double-jabbed who comes into contact with a COVID-19 case.

  2. How on Earth could a competent government fail to ensure a sufficient supply of essential testing supplies during a pandemic? Oh, right, *competent*.

  3. If youre still outraged and surprised at this govt ineptitide, in the nicest possible way, you need to take a look at yourself.

  4. Lateral flow tests?

In wales the FAW have amended the covid policy so now all players and officials are to have a lft before going to a match.

That policy came into effect this weekend just gone. I picked up an extra kit just for this.

Has the fa for England changed their policy to do the same?

Just pointing out that there’s more factors at play now, I assume it’s not just football asking people to do more testing etc. (we’ve had local outbreaks that ended up cancelling games last week so, it’s a good policy imo.)

As for running out of the kits… shambles really. There’s supposed to be a healthy supply to defend against surges in ordering etc, but that’s our government for you.

  5. Unsurprising really.

If I had to guess we’ll run out of vaccine next or run into difficulties getting vaccines to vaccination locations, my wife works in primary care and vaccine supply has been the limiting factor on booster rollout at her workplace up to this point.

  6. So is Boris this morning like “shit, probably should have checked that” or “well I’ve done my part”?

  7. You can still get a collect code, but that doesn’t guarantee being able to collect them. I went to Boots this morning and they’d ran out.

  8. I’m sure a friend of a minister will set up a company within the next few hours, secure a contract, get paid and source additional sub par testing kits via aliexpress for distribution by 2023.

  9. Well that was quick. I got a home test after flu symptoms last week (negative). It went pretty smoothly so didn’t expect this.

  10. I suspect most of the nations stock is in my hallway cupboard!

My missus works in a school and they seem to send her home with hundreds of the things every week.

  11. Oh great! We (primary care) now can’t get any because they took away the only other route we had to order tests in the summer.

  12. Go to your local pharmacy. Some will give it to you without the code. You might have to visit a few. Do it before they run out of stock too.

  13. On the off chance there are any government ministers reading this, Big John down the pub has a pallet of pregnancy tests we can spray paint and ship out starting tomorrow. Give me a shout, happy to “donate” 10% back to the party if it greases the wheels 😉

  14. They’re too busy partying and stealing money from the poor to manage this properly. They spent all our money on coke and duck islands and can’t afford to buy any more tests.

  15. Wait until they charge you £60 for the pleasure. That night out, day out or field trip is going to be expensive. Good luck to you working class.

  16. “It’s a postal problem, not an availability problem:

    >No 10 insists lateral flow tests kits haven’t run out, and postal issues affecting supply being addressed

    >At the Downing Street lobby briefing the prime minister’s spokesman said that a shortage of postal slots, not a shortage of lateral flow tests, has been the reason for people not being able to order lateral flow tests on the government’s website this morning. (See 11.29am.) The spokesman said:

    >There is no shortage of lateral flow tests. We have more than sufficient supply. What we are seeing is, because of the heightened demand today, those available to be posted out today, those slots have been filled already.

    >We are working with the postal service and others to further increase slots.

    >But it is important for people to understand if they do encounter trouble, they can go to their local pharmacy. The slots refresh daily.

This needs to be pinned – people seem to go into hysterics in this sub somtimes

  17. So I work for the NHS and supposed to test routinely, I’m down to one lateral flow test and need to order more… What to do

  18. I’ve still got a few from my previous kit left, and had another box dropped off by my partner’s parents. Quite handy as it turns out!

  19. Don’t make rules about daily testing…until you’ve got the tests in stock, Boris.

What a Buffoon. He quite literally couldn’t run a chippy. He’d announce a 50% sale on battered hake but without having ordered any fish. Tit.

  20. More become available daily at 8pm. There’s plenty tests but limited by how many they can ship in a day.

  21. I work at a library and we were handing out test kits like they were candy. The pharmacies came and got some of our kits too.

So go to your local library if you can. They probably have kits!!
