So they force you to work until you are 65 but 5 years later they don’t trust you to drive a car?
Weird that licenses have been considered a lifetime thing for so long, and that even now only people over the age of 70 have to go through this. Most of the shit drivers I encounter in my daily life are far younger than that.
Gut. Such a high percentage of road accidents are caused by old people who don’t have fast reflexes anymore, who’s sight/hearing is getting worse or are deteriorating mentally.
And of course this should go in tandem with the expansion of and investment in good public transport and biking infrastructure so everyone can still get around.
But 70 is not that old. 80 ia where it gets eeeee.
Also, we have this in our country. The doctors just give the driving licenses extension, they dont give a fck. They told this swnior I know: just dont go on highways……motherfucker, what?
This is already the case in Ireland for those over 75.
Frankly everyone should be required to pass the drivers test every time they renew their license (every 10 years in Ireland), not just be certified fit. The standard has gone downhill since the pandemic. People need to be reminded what red lights mean and other basic rules of the road.
