  1. I usually just walk around Dunnes with a calculator trying to hit €100 to get the €20 off. So €80 a week.

Essentials, dinners, cleaning stuff and the good stuff out of whatever is left out of the €100.

I have noticed a serious lack of Pringles coming home with me as of late.

  2. Dunnes average was 100 last year per week. So 80 after vouchers. Then coming into winter it was 110 after vouchers. Now its coming as 125 with vouchers and its 2 people with the majority of food being own brand. Its the only supermarket in the area but I am seriously considering going to lidl and driving to save some money.

  3. When you see people parroting that inflation is falling, look at your bank account at the end of the month.

How inflation is calculated has changed multiple times, and you don’t get the real picture of how prices are currently without looking into the detail like this.

  4. Fresh produce was empty in Lidl yesterday at about 3pm. I know spain had tomatoe issues but other stuff were gone. I’m not sure if it was just bought up already

I’ve noticed I buy the same or more but with more regard and thought and price looking. Buying less meat as well

  5. I love creamed rice..ambrosia always my favourite however I do like value for money and sadly their not any more.. started buying lifle when theirs was 35 cents a can for 400 grams.. sadly their now 49 cents a can.. but Dunnes stores sell a 650 gram can for 49 cents so Dunnes here I come.

  6. My shopping hasn’t really changed, prices have risen but manageable. I only buy what I eat. Inflation did cause the local butcher to close so now I have to eat crap supermarket meat which is horrible.

  7. Incidentally – there’s probably nothing wrong with your arse, the loo rolls have all just gotten shrinkflated so you’re going through more of them.

  8. It’s definitely higher than 16.4%.

Lots of things have gone up 50% or even more.
I usually go to dunnes as its most convenient, and I don’t find major savings differences between any of the chains really unless there is something I’m particular that you buy on offer.

I go 3 times a week and do 1/2 days’ worth of a food shop for a family of 4. A year ago I used to struggle to hit 50 euro on the groceries to use the 10 off voucher.

Now I’m easily spending 75-90 a visit, sometimes 100 even.
