Horrific. I thought the end result was that there was no direct Al-Qaeda link?
Hm. I thought it was Basque terrorists. No, my error, it was AlQuada who aimed to bring down Aznar at the elections 3 days after which was silly if you think about it because Bush won his re-election after 9/11… But Al Quada (all-knowing, all-wise, etc.) of course knew that while US president would win after terrorism, it would bring down a Spanish PM. In hindsight all these things make sooo much sense.
Was surprised they xrayed bags on long distance trains in Spain but I guess this explains why
This terrorist attack was a response to invasion of Iraq which Spanish goverment supported, the cruel irony being that Al qaeda gained power in Iraq because of the invasion and it was the innocent Spanish people who paid the price who were against the invasion and not the politicians.
What happened to those politicians? I atleast hope they lost support among Spanish people.

Most deadly? [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_major_terrorist_incidents)doesn’t seem to agree
Just a few examples of clearly more deadly attacks: [2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Sri_Lanka_Easter_bombings), [2018 As-Suwayda attacks](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_As-Suwayda_attacks), [2017 Mogadishu bombings](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/14_October_2017_Mogadishu_bombings),[2016 Karrada bombing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Karrada_bombing), [09/11](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacks), [Beslan school siege](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beslan_school_siege)
