I think there are more that are not shown in this map. Some in Spain, some in northern Africa and also more eastward towards Afganistan.
Also, in the territory depicted in the map there should be more, for example in Romania I know 3 different settlements colonized by the greeks, but there is only one dot.
It is also a map of every Greek city founded in Greece.
None of the ones in Egypt, Lybia, and nothing east of Lebanon is shown (there were plenty)
Georgia is incorrect, there are more
What about Mariupol in Ukraine which has a greek -polis name.
Greek influenced name but it was founded before this time? Or after?
Fun fact:
There’s a town in Slovenia (Vrhnika, Ancient Nauportus) that claims origin from Jason and the Argonauts who supposedly camped and dismantled their ship there before carrying it over land to the Adriatic. The town’s coat of arms still sports a Greek bireme, the Argo.
A lot of cities missing
Why is Cyprus considered Greece in this?
Also what qualifies as a Greek city?
Many of them in the sea.
Yeah mainstream thought doesn’t really give the Greeks enough credit. They were incredible explorers for their time.
Wrong. In Romania there were 3: Histria, Tomis and Callatis.
Hello OP, could you link a source please? thank you
The Greek empire is been rebuild city by city…expect orgies nearby any time soon…
Fun fact: ancient Greece was made up of many races that were combined by some historian to form “greek” majority of the modern Greeks only inherit 1/100of this

Do you know the city founded in Cataluña?
It would be cool to see one for Roman cities as well.
Can we have the same with the names? I would be interested to know those in Phoenicia and Mesopotamia.
