The EU brings in the next round of Russian sanctions against male Russians on International Men’s Day (19 November).

Nope. That’ll never happen. They’ll do it when they want. But they’ll bring in sanctions for violations against women only for International Women’s Day. Such a virtue signalling joke. If it were that important to the EU as it is to the victims/greater human race, it would have brought them in before.

  1. I personally think that the EU has strayed far from its original purpose of creating a free trading bloc between countries.
These days it is more about symbolic politics and the recycling of loyal yet unelected national politicians while demanding more decision power and financial resources.

Sanctions are understandable but you can already infer the scale of their impact if they are used that symbolically as pointed out by OP.

Also I would wish for consistency in a body that claims such moral superiority, especially when “allied” countries conduct their strategic military interventions, but I suppose that will never happen.
