These kinds of extravagantly expensive highway works should be financed using tolls. Jeez, just put up some virtual toll booths using ANPR cameras and send people a bill at the end of the month. It makes so much sense to have the actual users of the infrastructure finance this instead of putting it on the general budget. Same for whatever is going to replace viaduct van Gentbrugge in the distant future.
The original concept was much cheaper and efficient. But some groups made it impossible… A bit cynical
