Press chases Bart De Wever through Flemish Parliament: ‘The questions are getting more and more hostile’ (Video)

  1. Kinda reminds me of the paparazzi in UK or USA, with how they behaved like that. Kinda expected our press to be better, but i guess that’s too much to ask for huh? Especially since they are asking such loaded questions, which they themselves know that he wont answer because at such a delecate moment for the Flemish governement, it’s better to not say anything that could make things worse.

The press does have the responsability to inform the public of what’s happening, but they sure as hell also know that they wont be able to do that by behaving like that

  2. This shitshow shows again that the political party presidents have way too much power. These people are elected to their position by a very small percentage of the Belgian voters, yet they are the ones having the final say in what the Flemish government is suppose to do.

We need to put an end to Belgian particracy.

  3. Rumor has it that Weyts was only there to ensure De Wever wouldn’t get lost in the parliament building.

All jokes aside, journalists not exactly covering themselves in glory with that kind of questions. I’m all for holding politicians accountable but this level of paparazzi journalism is not something I like to see.

  4. Business as usual.

Not answering questions he doesn’t have an answer for, rather than admitting on record he, his party and its ministers don’t know what to do without losing face themselves. Losing face is about as bad as losing votes in the next election.

And running away. If he had answered questions at the top of the stairs, no-one would have followed him, no images would have made it to the internet. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see this clip again on a non-Flemish, non-Belgian network as another example of how well Belgium is managed by all these governments. Since he chose not to answer, these reporters had the interview of the day, maybe even the week.

Trying to be funny. Making fun of the opponent’s questions. Not the best strategy when dealing with the media. He’s not doing a speech for his disciples that don’t know better…

And no statement about the reason for the flight down the stairs since (unless I missed something). No other hot and new pressing news item is created to take away attention from this issue that appears to be causing more harm to NVA than to anyone else.

    All this signals “crisis”.

    We’re experiencing interesting times !

  5. These are not paparazi chasing a celebrity. These are reporters trying to get answers from politicians. The people have a right to hear answers.

Typisch Bartje.

N-VA, niet beter dan de ander.

  7. Deserved after all he did, was about time, he went away with too many things over the last years.
