With all the Omicron concern, worth reflecting on some of the better news on the Covid front: The number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals (8am) has fallen to 443 this morning, its lowest in two months.

Lowest since 16th October
And it’s not going to last long.
Shhhh. We’re not allowed be positive about anything anymore, except covid positive. Listen to Mr Holohan and hide under your bed for the rest of your life.
Ach away on with your positive news.
We only care for depression in this sub.
More lockdowns are coming I’m sure of it. France banning UK travellers.
Thanks for sharing. Optimism, as tough as it can be, is important in these times. Reddit (and not just /r/Ireland) is a hive of miserable doom-merchants.
It is fucking ridiculous to call for fresh restrictions in light of this. Absolutely insanity. More restrictions would not be “following the science”, it would be spineless career politicians acquiescing to the zealotry of NPHET who, once again, seem to have gotten it wrong. Michael Martin, the weakest man I’ve ever seen let alone politician, doesn’t have the minerals to make the right call, but I have some slim hopes that Leo will put the brakes on it, before even more of our social and economic life is thrown away to appease hysterics.
Boosters working a treat 💁♂️💯
Link to daily hospitalization statistics for data nerds like me: [https://covid19ireland-geohive.hub.arcgis.com/pages/hospitals-icu–testing](https://covid19ireland-geohive.hub.arcgis.com/pages/hospitals-icu–testing)
Fucking charlatans trying to bring in restrictions while hospitals empty. Cunts the lot of them. Our lives now dictated by the incompetence of these useless shits running our health service.
Hospitalisation numbers reflect caseload from a couple weeks ago, so sure hospitalisation will be trending down but this trend is expected to reverse as omicron exponentially spreads
The increasing omicron cases will cause the hospital patient numbers to increase in the coming weeks. Expect record hospitalisations in the days after Christmas and early Jan
By “Omicron concern”, are you referring to the mass hysteria and unfounded panic in Ireland over the past few weeks?
Can anyone explain to me why Omicron is a concern when literally all scientists have been implying it to be weaker variant (causes less severe disease). If it becomes dominant and pushes out Delta that would be… Good thing?
So with the hospitals doing better why are they trying to restrict us more? Also isn’t Omicron less deadly than delta?
Also vulnerable are boosted, most are double vaxxed, and Omicron is mild.
The negative news is the pants shitting by jumped up civil servants in Nphet.
The government doesn’t care
I hope they are discharges and not deaths
SA introduced 0 new measures due to Omicron which has run rampant there.
I’d wager they have a better grasp of things than our NPHET overlords.
But yet they cancel kids vaccinations for other diseases and viruses with less than 24 hours notice still. Because of covid.
Fuckin livid
its almost as if the restricitions has helped reduce it.
So that means just over 3% of hospital beds are taken up by covid patients? That’s a hell of a lot lower than I thought.
Lock it down

Keep the booster train running!
This fucking crazy obsession with shoving case numbers into everyones face is actually insane.
4000 positive cases a day with 2000 of those in the over 50s is trouble.
4000 cases a day with 300 or so in the over 50s is way less worrisome.
Its actually disgusting the kick the media has been getting out of shoving fear down everyones neck the past few months
