
The TEN-T is an EU-wide network of rail, inland waterways, short-sea shipping routes, and roads.
* It links 424 major cities
* 9 European Transport Corridors
* Allows for at least 160 km/h for passenger railways
* Makes it easier to move freight between trains & other modes
* Connects large airports to rail
When the TEN-T is complete, it will cut travel times between the cities it links. For example, passengers will be able to travel between Copenhagen and Hamburg in 2.5 hours by train, instead of the 4.5 hours required today.
The European Comission, after a review of the previous network, proposed yesterday higher standards along the TEN-T network, boosting high speed rail and embedding multimodality, and a new north-south Corridor in Eastern Europe. This is the result:

It’s a huge project that will increase the use of trains to the detriment of air transport, or at least that’s what I got from the whole plan. The more alternatives, the better, maybe the train tickets will be a bit cheaper than they currently are.

>- Guidelines for track access pricing in 2023 that will ease rail operators’ access to infrastructure, increasing competition and allowing for more attractive ticket prices for passengers.
By 2030, the Commission will support the launch of at least 15 cross-border pilot to test the Action Plan’s approach, ahead of the entry into force of the new TEN-T requirements.
Can the UK work on getting more trains from outside London to the mainland? I’d rather just have to get the ferry to Wales and get one night train to France or somewhere.
