Hello, everyone! I like making 3D rendered elevations and I have just finished this one of Scotland based on a 1944 RAF aeronautical chart. I thought it would be interesting to share it here.

I hope the size of the image is good enough to zoom and see the details. I’ve had some troubles uploading the original file, so I had to resize it.
Here are some more details about the map:
I found the original chart at the McMaster University. You can get the high resolution file [here](http://digitalarchive.mcmaster.ca/islandora/object/macrepo%3A70058).
The elevation data is a 20 metres, LiDAR derived DTM file. It can be found in [this](https://data.opendataportal.at/dataset/dtm-united_kingdom) repository.
I have used QGIS and Blender, both of them open source software.
If you have any questions, suggestions, comments, curiosities or whatever else to share about the map, feel free to do so, I’ll try to be around and answer to everyone here, since links to social media are not allowed in the subreddit 🙂
Cheers and thanks in advance!
I love this! But it does remind me of cooked steak lol.
Amazing, thank you for sharing.
Love it! I once took the train to Aviemore then mountain-biked from there across the Cairngorms to Aberdeen with a mate. Brings back memories, so thanks!
I want to pick at it
Very fascinating though, I like zooming in and seeing the rivers
r/ukhiking would love this.
Ah it’s a shame the map you worked off cut off the head of the highlands, I was up there a few months ago on my bike and it’s an incredible landscape. Funny enough the green/purple you’ve used is similar to the heather you find everywhere.
