It strikes me how “grandiose” Brussels looked then compared to today. A lot of those monuments are now “boxed in” between newer buildings in completely different styles, the city kind of lost its architectural harmony… and I guess the cars parked on both sides of every road today also make it feel more claustrophobic.
There still is hope. In about 20-40 years most cars will be self driving electric taxis, they don’t need to park on the street.
Older, ugly modernist towers are getting demolished.
