I’m currently 24 years old from a Latin American country but with Deutsch citizenship. I’m currently living in USA as an illegal immigrant since I have visited USA and overstayed my VISA I’ve been here for more than 1 year and 6 months and I feel like I’m stuck right now since I’m not being able to study or do other thing than work since studying is too expensive here, I can’t go abroad because since I’ve overstayed my VISA I won’t be able to enter to USA for 10 years as a punishment. Going back to my country is not an option because Latin America it’s like a hole for me it’s harder to succeed and to become a professional or just work and living a normal life. My questions here is what would you do if you were in my situation? It is important to say that I have no knowledge of German and I don’t have family in Germany that can help me to establishing there.

Edit: it is important to add that I have no professional qualifications, also if it is important to say that if I stay and I get US citizenship through marriage I’ll most likely losing my German citizenship.

  1. So….are you asking if comming to germany is possible for you?

Well, you are a citizen, so you can move here with no visa requirements. The issue is,however, what you plan to do once you arrive. Do you have any professional qualifications?

  2. Well moving somewhere where you can legally be seems smart. Your German citizenship opens up the whole EU for you, so maybe Spain would be an easier option

  3. I‘m sure you can find some work here and live a normal life. But if you don‘t learn the language, you will work forever in the McDonalds kitchen for minimum wage.

  4. You have the whole EU open to you, maybe a country with a language more familiar to you like spain would be a better pick. Although it should definitely be possible to live here without learning german, but you will face some difficulties.

  5. Would it be bad to not be able to visit the US again?

As you are a citizen of the EU, maybe you have solid chances in Spain? I assume Spanish is your first language? Maybe the people in the spanish subreddit have more ideas for you.
