Great to see high useage of this line, 1 in 6 of all rail journeys !
And that overall, rail useage is back to 2019 levels
Sad to see overcrowding is an issue and that HS2 wont arrive at a main London station.
I prefer the TFL line before they rebadged it as Elizabeth Line but it is connecting more people and only added 15 minutes to my journey so I won’t say it’s a bad change, just not my cup of tea.
It does get monstrously packed at peak times which isn’t convenient.
Probably because half of the rail journeys in the North are cancelled
Because it’s the one you get if national rail is on strike
And at the same time both Northern powerhouse and HS2 have been cut back.
Wasn’t the entire point to drop passenger numbers on other lines? Did that happen?
Turns out when you build infrastructure, people use it
Can you go all the way through on this line now or is it still in three stages?
Induced demand is a thing in rail transport, too – so don’t expect all rail links to be each less busy than they were before if you build a new one. People will travel more if it’s easier.
It is just not demonised with rail like it is with roads.
Used it for the first time last week. Highly impressive. Just a shame the rest of the country is still stuck in the 1960s
Just goes to show we need to build more infrastructure.
With ridership like this does that mean the payback time is actually going to be quite low? (I know most of the benefits will come elsewhere like wages ect)
Why is it only a single decker if it’s so high demand? All the train on the Sydney metro have 5 seats in 1 row and are two levels.
So they got the passenger usage estimates correct. Having spent 20 Billion it’s a good job it’s not running empty … Meanwhile a 100 billion is being spent saving 15 minutes off nowhere near Euston to somewhere short of Birmingham.
