Man sent bailiffs to Luton Airport for Wizz Air refund

  1. Legend.

More people should do that, instead of just accepting it when Wizz doesn’t pay up what courts order them to.

Next time, seize an aircraft and hold it until paid.

  2. They’re a fucking dogshit airline. Flew back from Iceland with them last week online check in wasn’t working and it wouldn’t let me pay the 12 pounds to have airport check in at the airport either.

When I got to the airport we had to pay 90 euros to check in because of that. Tried explaining that their check in wasn’t working online to the check-in staff and said I didn’t wanna pay it as I obviously won’t get a refund from wizz air for the 90 euros. Was basically told pay it or fuck off.

Lo and behold when I sent an email explaining the situation to wizz airs customer service I was also told to basically fuck off.

  3. I did similar in my lawyer days against lots of insurance companies who didn’t pay court judgments that they were owed in time. Always a pleasure when you receive a panicked phone call from some random insurance agent proffering all sorts of excuses as to why they haven’t paid yet but if it wasn’t too much trouble could they please have your BACs details to make a payment because HCEOs are at their offices.

  4. I’m currently owed about £180 by EasyJet as of August 2022. They’re never going to pay it. The annoying thing is I’ve asked my credit card company, Virgin, to back charge the payment and they’ve ignored me too. It’s like they don’t care enough to pretend they’re trying.

  5. Huh, I did the exact same thing with Wizz Air. Was owed £700 in EU flight compensation. Contacted them loads of times. They eventually agreed they owed the money, and would send it to my bank, but never did. After lots of attempts to get hold of them, I gave them notice that I’d file for a CCJ. Did that, court granted it with no response from Wizz Air. After a couple of months of trying to get them to pay, paid the court something like £70 for a warrant of control. Bailiffs went to Wizz Air’s offices at Luton airport (wish I’d been there to see it!) and I got a phone call while they were there with Wizz Air confirming my bank details, I said yes, they sent me the money by Faster Payments on the spot.

They 100% were just relying on people not pursuing such claims.

Sounds like I could’ve got an extra couple of hundred going to the tabloids.

  6. I recently went to Iceland via Jizz air and had similar issues at Luton. Me and my partner were priority and went to send our bags through and we were queuing in priority and told us there no priority and it was closed, the guy from the check in desk basically tried squaring off to me and my missus, we just laughed and went to the self check in.

I didn’t think Ryanair could be topped for overall shittiness. I’ll never fly with jizz air ever again.

  7. >”Their option was to hand over the money or the bailiffs would take it in goods – it might have been chairs, tables, computers or an aircraft,” said Mr Quirk.

Hahahaha. It’s so satisfying seeing a company treated the same way people are.

  8. That’s certainly a bold approach, and on the plus side he did eventually get a refund from Wizz Air. I experienced a frustratingly similar situation with a different carrier recently where I was stuck in an endlessly long customer service loop and had to take matters into my own hands. Nonetheless, I would recommend seeking a refund directly from the carrier first, before taking more drastic measures.
