‘Very sensitive subject’: plan to take Welsh water for London stirs painful memories

  1. wales should tell london to jog on and fix its plumbing. instant 40% increase in water supply. funny how london is however, aggressively opposed to capitalist ideas like investment though.

  2. > The council wants a levy raised on water supplies that are not for the direct benefit or consumption by the people of Powys.

This is essential. Anything else is categorically unjust. The equivalent would be “London banks must provide free money to anyone in Wales, on demand”. The water is a resource, and the most equitable way to regulate it is to allow those who live closest to it to profit directly from it.

If Londoners don’t like the price? The ground is right there. Dig a big hole and flood it for your water, but do it close to your house.

  3. Oh look it’s the classic nimby line, don’t do this thing where i live do that other thing so i won’t notice it. London is the capital and our greatest city, the rest of the country should support it and keep it growing so it stays as one of the worlds greatest cities.
