What’s the secret? Without the Dewey Decimal System how do you find things?

Context- I’m in Poznań and doing research into local history while I’m here. I tried looking around the main library for several books (including the attached photo) but have no idea how anything is organized. The librarians told me it was on the upper floor and I was quickly lost trying to navigate to what I needed.

  1. OK I have no idea how this specific library works but maybe you need to, eghem, book it first and after a day or two you will be able to pick it up at the counter instead of going through the shelves yourself? The screenshot you provided has a button on the very right side that reads “order / book (or reserve)”.

  2. This book is only available for view in reading room, not in a library.

You have to go to the reading room and request the book you want to read (or reserve it in advance so that you can be sure it’s ready for you).

  3. KP32895 seems to be description where this book belongs to. How do we find things without Dewey? Well, we use different system?
