Just cancelled my TV licence and so have a few of my friends.
Feels like the BBC is looking more like a Tory propaganda machine lately
We are propagandised way more than we realise.

So how many leaks is this now that the government has, in fact, despite all the protestations to the contrary that its just because its politically neutral that it gets attacked from both sides, been pressuring the public broadcaster to push a narrative that suits its own agenda over factual reporting on a number of issues. Absolutely wild these leaks are coming out and just being lost in the wider general storm of discontent with how the country is being managed.
The whole country should cancel their tv licence !!
The problem is Johnson felt empowered to phone up the bbc and demand a known false story was reported as fact. Yes they resisted, but it’s clear we are already in a slippery slope with Tory and bbc collusion
>A Conservative party spokesperson said the requests were part of normal media management and that conversations were professional and courteous. It is understood CCHQ does not consider them to amount to “pressure”.
>Despite the requests, the BBC did not change its language and continued to use “false” to describe the prime minister’s comments, including on broadcast bulletins and in online stories, as well as in an analysis by the BBC’s then political editor Laura Kuenssberg.
The headline seems pretty sensationalised by The Guardian.
If you want to understand who Boris Johnson really is, read the following article very carefully.
>Monday June 28 was a gruelling day for Boris Johnson.
>Days earlier, health secretary Matt Hancock had resigned for breaking coronavirus restrictions during an affair with an aide, and the political aftershocks were still reverberating.
>Instead of recuperating in his recently redecorated Downing Street flat with his wife Carrie that evening, the prime minister was driven to a Kensington townhouse for a discreet gathering with some of the wealthiest people in London. These were some of the money men who had supported Johnson’s rise to power.
>Johnson, as is often his way, told them what they wanted to hear: that he hadn’t forgotten his closest supporters
>“The top donors are Thatcherite free marketeers, and they have no qualms about giving Boris a piece of their mind.” said a source
>Downing St insiders say it is commonplace to hear the prime minister, a recently divorced and remarried father of six, complain about his money problems.
>He and his second wife Marina Wheeler, married for 27 years, divorced last year after Johnson started seeing 33-year-old Carrie Symonds, former head of communications for the Conservative party.
>The divorce was far from amicable.
>“He was constantly talking about how much it cost” says one Downing St insider.
>“Occasionally you’d hear him say, ‘I just can’t afford to do this job’”
>”A Conservative party spokesperson said the requests were part of normal media management and that conversations were professional and courteous. It is understood CCHQ does not consider them to amount to “pressure”.”
And this is, in a nutshell, the problem with the way the party acts. It’s now considered normal practice to manipulate the truth and push others into falling into step with those lies. They can’t conceive of behaving any other way.
Don’t cancel your TV license just vote the Tories out
Anyone got any suggestions for some actual impartial papers out there? Can’t bring myself to use the Tory BBC anymore.
Another piece of evidence that shows the UK has in recent years moved to being more authoritarian.
Wasn’t it just a week ago some international watch dog downgraded the UK to a authoritarian flawed democracy or something like that? (Pulling from my very foggy memory there).
Can anyone tell where tories end and the BBC starts?
Get ready for this to be shoved down our throats non-stop given the looming election. By far the biggest gun they have.
Nice to have one’s suspicions confirmed. I expect all the others could be too
I’m a bit sick of these headline. Governments of all persuasions seek to pressure or influence all media outlets, that’w what they do. Have we not watched The Thick of It?
What’s news is when the media outlet caves
I read that headline at least 5 times and I still don’t understand it.
Wow so Starmer let jimmy go and he was also one of the one’s in charge of the original Grooming scandles yrs bk, something is not right with that one to many get out of jail free card’s for the child molesters..
A compliant, weak and biased media is a sign of a democracy in trouble.
Lol they pushed the BBC into raking up that old tosh?
This is some US republican level of shit throwing. It won’t be long before the tories are claiming that Labour is running secret pro trans pedo cults
This is straight out of the populist / Donald Trump playbook. Distraction by way of multiple unsubstantiated claims (lies), partial truths and outrage over smaller issues while the serious tickets go unscrutinised.
When this happened I wrote to my local Tory MP (Andrew Selhous) asking if he would either publicly support or denounce what Johnson said. I was partially relieved when he responded to say that he was totally against what Johnson said, and wished he hadn’t said it, but was disappointed that this regret was only privately shared in an email and not put out publicly, on his twitter feed for example.
It’s disappointing because while I’m not a Tory voter, and always voted against him, I do believe him to be a good guy. My mother’s a green party member who has had several meeting with him and even she has some praise for him. But whenever I ask him about national issues, I always get some scripted non-answer response probably from Tory HQ just towing the same Tory waffle like what you see in a broadcasted interview. I just wish more back-benchers had the back-bone to stand up to their leadership.
Where’s the BBC News article on this? I thought they loved to self reflect. Turns out this is only for soft scandals like the licence fee being too high or things that become so big they can’t avoid like the Gary Lineker story.
Tories keep looking for a corner in a circular room.

Is this the same Jimmy Savile that was a good friend of Margaret Thatcher?
