The rest of the government copes with this by releasing a new report with significantly lower expectations of demand. Just say our threats are reducing and we aren’t getting involved with China.
If the title of this government report is meant to be referencing the movie Jaws, they’ve made a huge mistake because the line in the film is actually “This boat needs to be WAAAAAYYY bigger!”
How much more offensive do you need than an aircraft carrier group?
Britain has no appealing natural resources and absolutely no motive for invasion, beyond retalliation for imperialism or illegal oil-grabs.
We won’t get invaded. There is no defence motive – the money should be spent on infrastructure, services, and green industrial solutions here at home.
Building a bigger navy would be titanic waste of money.
Just to make it clear how shite defence funding is and how little the government cares. We are likely to end up having no anti ship missiles on our ships for the better part of a decade.
i 100% agree we need more frigates and multirole surface ships like patrol ships
