Around this time in 1944, Tallinn was bombarded by Soviet Bombers, 700 perished, and 20 thousand were left homeless. Many sought refuge in western countries, such as Sweden. 79 years later, Tallinn and its old town still lives.

  1. Vene võim täpselt sama värdjas nüüd nagu nad seda olid sellel ajal, mitte midagi pole muutunud. Ja sellepärast ei saa neid ka usaldada.

  2. Pole tegelikult tollast aega arvestades midagi erakordset. Näiteks Varssavit taastati postkaartide abil. Rääkimata Dresdenist.

  3. Juskel vist on mingi matk või ekskursioon, kus saab tühje platse/varemeid külastada. ‘Tallinna hävinud hooned’ vmt.

  4. Pommitamist juhendasid Briti ohvitserid, muide. Liitlastena aitasid britid venelastel organiseerida suurlinnade pommitamisi enda välja töötatud ründelainete alusel. Meid päästis suuremast jamast Soome, kelle lennukid ründasid omakorda tagasipöörduvaid Vene lennukeid ja lennuvälju

  5. It’s a bit sad to still see some people in Estonia support Russia despite the high tensions between the whole of NATO and Russia. Most of them are Russian or the old people who keep supporting “the motherland” even though their glorious commie empire collapsed in 1991.

  6. Vanaema remembered escaping across the Gulf of Finland on a small boat with other refugees, and watching Tallinn burning in the night. My mom and uncle were babies still, and my grandfather that i never met.
At one point they were approached by another boat, and they made the men throw the rifles they had brought with them overboard, so they didnt get mistaken for soldiers and shot. It was a friendly, Finnish boat.
After Finland they went to Sweden for a few years before coming to Blomidon Nova Scotia, Canada. Eventually settling in southern Ontario
