Legality of cannabis possesion in Europe

  1. UK, legal medically but still almost impossible to get it prescribed.

Might as well just call it illegal.

  2. Portugal here.
Decriminalized, but you still have consequenses if caught.

Usually, with low doses youll need to go to a drug abuse center to have a talk with a pshycologist. He Will determine dependency/risks/etc. Overall youll probably have no legal Record nor fine, and a notation that if you’re caught again in 3 months you’ll have more consequences(fines/comunity services and so on).

If high doses(>20g) you’ll jump right that first step, and probably go to court to see if its rulled user or possession/distribution, (jail time may be involved in huge amounts or more than once caught).

Some nicer Cops Will just throw away your stash and send you away if its small doses and you seem nice, tho.

    Edit:typo

  3. Lol Italy is not decriminalised at all, if anything motherfucking crapface Salvini made it even worse. You can have your driving license revoked because you have weed on you, doesn’t matter if you are actually driving. That’s just an example.

  4. Medical cannabis products have been legalised in 2013, and at the end of 2014 the government decided to set up its own production of cannabis via the Italian Army.

As strange as it may sound, the Italian Army has had an industrial pharmaceutical plant for producing drugs since before the unification of Italy (it comes from the Kingdom of Sardinia), and the current one has been situated in Firenze since 1931. Thus, the Italian Army actually cultivates cannabis in its own greenhouse since 2015, however on average the production is low, between 100 and 300 kg, while the demand is about 1.500 kg per year. Most of it is imported by countries like Canada, Denmark, Netherlands and Germany.

Therefore, the Italian government has declared that it wants to reach self-sufficiency for production of medical products derived by cannabis. For 2023 it has set a target of 700 kg of production, and then to increase even more in the future.

At the moment the Italian Army produces two types of cannabis products: one is called FM1 (military drug 1) containing 13-20% THC and <1% CBD, the other is FM2 (military drug 2) containing 5-8% THC and 7-12% CBD. This year they also want to start production of a cannabis infused oil (until now they only prepared the dried cannabis and they gave it to the pharmacies who then produced the drugs for the patients according to the prescriptions).

  5. I’d have legalized weed before increasing retirement age if I were Macron. Am I the smartest politician of all time?

  6. Total bs about Lithuania! Actually it’s quite the opposite:

Lithuania criminalized cannabis in 2017 and is the only country in the world that criminalized cannabis in the 21st century.[1] Until 2013 Lithuania was the only country in the European Union where the cultivation of industrial hemp was banned.

Edit: just wanted to clarify there are no medical exceptions or anything.

  7. Well in Italy you’ll still face consequences if caught, like suspension of driver license if you don’t test negative after they test you sometime later, but it is technically decriminalised since you won’t have any criminal records I guess.

  8. It’s incredible that cannabis is actually illegal in France when you see the amount of ordinary people who consume it regularly.

  9. In Czechia it’s pretty good. Medicinally it’s legal, but I don’t have any personal experience experience.

I can however tell you that our two biggest cities smell like weed all the time in certain places, that there are villages in Moravia where pretty much everyone is growing, and that as long as you don’t pass your joint to a cop they probably wouldn’t sweat you for it in public.

If they do make a bust you will get a fine, if you’re growing or selling or have over 10 g (maybe it’s by THC IDK) it’s a felony, but almost all of my friends would smoke and deal, everyone in the service industry in Prague smokes and CBD/smoke shops and vending machines are absolutely everywhere…

Lastly DUI is still DUI, so don’t even think about it.

  10. Belgium isnt decriminalized. It depends on the court responsible but in my province possession of cannabis will bring you before court. Should be orange imo like France.
