Because a flood of people went to do testing than the average daily. The true cases in most countries will probably be 5x or more than stated anyway. This obsession with case numbers needs to end. The focus should be on treatment and deaths.

Infection rates are largely irrelevant. What matter is hospitalisation rates and the death toll. But I would like to see a more accurate death toll, it’s heavily skewed, anybody that tests positive and dies within 28 days is counted. A verified covid cause of death is what we need to be seeing
