>Swedish Member of Parliament Adnan Dibrani (S) was in Montenegro on a political mission when he saw a baby floating in a river.
>He acted quickly – and managed to save the child’s life.
>Adnan Dibrani is a Social Democratic Member of Parliament and a native of Varberg. On Monday, he was in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica with the Council of Europe to observe the country’s presidential election.
>Around 12 o’clock on Monday, Adnan Dibrani took a walk through the city with a colleague.
> – I was out with him who was the leader of the delegation. We would have a briefing before a press conference, says Adnan Dibrani.
>As they crossed the Blazov Bridge that spans the Moraca River, he suddenly caught sight of something in the water.
>– I saw a woman lying and floating with her head down. It looked like she was moving. I wondered if she was doing a dive or something. But she was wearing a coat, so there was something wrong, says Adnan Dibrani.
>”The guys thought the baby was dead”
>He shouted to three passing guys on the street – Almir Muja, Demaj Spejtim and Aldin Ibrahimovic – to call the police and an ambulance.
>At the same time as the guys picked up their phones, Adnad Dibrani saw the woman drop something into the water.
>– I wasn’t sure what it was. It looked like either a doll or a baby.
>The social democratic member of parliament and the guys who called for an ambulance quickly decided to get down to the water. Almir Muja, Demaj Spejtim and Aldin Ibrahimovic arrived first and picked up the baby, who floated ashore.
>– When I arrived a few seconds after the guys, I saw that it was a real baby. The guys thought the baby was dead, because it was completely lifeless. They held it in their arms and prayed for it, says Adnad Dibrani.
>He yanked the small child out of their hands and began CPR.
>– I turned the baby upside down. With one hand I hit the back, with the other hand I did compressions. The procedure may not have been completely perfect, but I wanted to quickly get water out of the little body and at the same time get air in.
>The child came to life
>After what felt like forever, but was probably only seconds, water came out of the kid’s mouth. The baby also opened its eyes and made sounds.
>Adnan Dibrani ran up to the bridge with the child in his arms.
>– When I ran, I talked to the baby all the time to keep him awake as much as possible. Up on the street it was full of people and people.
>He saw an ambulance coming towards him on the street and hurried over to it.
>- The baby was alive but I quickly wanted to make sure that it got enough oxygen so that it wouldn’t end up dying.
>Adnad Dibrani handed the child over to the rescue personnel.
>– After that, everything dropped. I was just trying to breathe and understand what had happened.
Received information from the Speaker of Montenegro
>The Member of Parliament showered off and accompanied the police to the station to give his witness statements. A few hours later he was on the flight to Sweden.
>Adnan Dibrani has received information from the Speaker of Montenegro that the baby, who turned out to be a two-month-old boy, has been reunited with his parents. Doctors believe he will make a full recovery.
>– This happened yesterday. I haven’t really gotten into everything yet. Right now I’m just happy that the boy is alive, says Adnan Dibrani.
>According to Adnan Dibrani, the woman floating in the water was the boy’s grandmother. Her life could not be saved.
Jesus Christ it’s rare enough when politicians are good people let alone heroes.
