‘People in England should now work from home if they can, as more Plan B guidance is introduced to curb the spread of Omicron.
The change brings England in line with Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.’
Good. If there’s one positive from this plague, it’s the choice to work from home.
Was this not announced last week?
In any case, its good but late, doing this 2 weeks ago would have been reacting properly, wheras this all feels like a repeat of last year always too late.
I wonder if that MP has fucked off back to the Bahamas
In my case and I suspect a few others too, it’s yes I can but not allowed to.
The morning after it was announced last week, our MD said ‘nope’. Staying you are all coming in as we can socially distance in the office, temperature checks on entry, follow one way systems and wear masks when away from your desks. We never dropped mask wearing in the office after so-called ‘freedom day’. We had almost certainly office transmission of covid a few months ago too despite the systems we have in place but somehow dodged it that time round.
It is my last working week of the year then I get boosted on Friday. Then perhaps start to consider a change of job in the New Year.
Why would they keep nightclubs open if they’re closing offices?
My company told us on Friday that they go beyond the government guidance so the office is covid safe and we should all be in on Monday. I handed my notice in 2 weeks ago so I’m staying at home
Alas, I am sitting in an empty office building alone.
Some bosses just don’t understand and are so set in thier ways. My old boss would never let anyone work from. No matter how successful they were.
Its like he only employed people he did trust!, I guess being a a greedy, conservative boomer had a lot to do with. He would begrudge you air to breathe if it had a monitory value.
Ironically he would only be in the office once or twice a week.
I moved from contracting to freelancing March 2020 and its been amazing. Sadly my brother works in the timber industry and has too I think in this day 5he option has to be available its insane not too.
So, is this a legal requirement, or merely, “advice”?
What about the irresponsible firms that are ignoring this?
HR types overjoyed to start Christmas holidays 2 weeks early.
Reminder that WFH can both be good for some and bad for others.
Personally I prefer it – save a lot of money, just as productive, better work life balance, but acknowledge some people’s job is harder at home depending on the work.
There is no one size fits all I guess, but letting people pick in the future is best (once pandemic is over)
Ours aren’t letting us. Thankfully I’m leaving for a new job after Christmas.
