In the UK the Govt is giving a £5000 grant to encourage the adoption of heat pumps. However the British public has a general perception that they are not overly effective and when the temp drops in the winter there is still a reliance on gas boilers. From what I can see online it is difficult to get an unbiased opinion and truly understand the pros and cons of them still.
UK having fewer sales than Czech Republic shows that cost is not the main reason why UK is lagging behind
also,UK had around 2% share for heat pumps in 2021
even if we exclude old buildings,**less than 20% of NEW buildings in 2021 in UK were fitted with heat pumps**
love UK for its unconditional support for Ukraine, but on energy efficiency and housing standards I have to say you guys are the Mississipi of Europe
Would be very interesting to see this controlled for population size (France for example is just a very big country) and temperature aswell. I have a feeling that at least in central europe temperature control in buildings is still very much neglected.
what are heat pumps and why would I buy one?
I managed to get the £5000 grant (UK). They said my property was the perfect size property for heat efficiency to have a heat pump (it is a bungalow). Then they said my pipes were too small to have a heatpump and too costly to replace, that it was a common problem with properties my size. I think the issue isn’t necessarily people taking the grant up, the issue is the way our houses are built. If heat pumps aren’t suitable for a decent sized house (3 bedrooms), massive houses, flats or a small house/bungalow in the UK, due to various issues with pipes or heating efficiency based on house sizes then what are they suitable for here?
Read that as “heart” pumps and went into panic mode for a couple of seconds.
Figures for Italy are grossly inflated by the extremely generous incentives given for renovations (incentives where stopped this year, some derogations were granted only for renovations already started)
Now, compare to number of households…
Damn, somebody making good money. Especially in Poland. 120% growth in sales? Damn.
TIL I’m apparently not in Europe
>Points at cemet slab in the garden.
His is where I would put my heatpump, if I had one.
Srly been waiting 9months for one, underfloor heating has been installed. Garage insulated. Added an extra power group. But they are just not available atm.
All of them? Air to air. Air water. Earth water? All in one category?
