Dude, everyone knows for overa decade now that our banks are a fucking circus.

People, this is an English newspaper, shitting on other nationalities is kind of their whole thing at the moment.
My only worry about this is not having enough competition to cater for large companies and SMEs, I’m still hoping that UBS will spin-off the ringed-fenced CS Swiss division.
I couldn’t care much about the bank otherwise, from here it was always just one more Zurich bank

It’s funny but I don’t know any Swiss who use either of those banks. I use BCV, others use Swiss post or other cantonal banks.

I don’t agree with this at all! The new consolidated bank is hugely significant for Switzerland and has only been prevented in the past by regulator interventions against anti trust, so it’s not like this is something that appeared out of the blue. The main issue is whether UBS will stand the tests of absorbing CS and all its skeletons, whether the Saudis will start moving their funds away in reaction to the written down AT bonds, and whether the national Bank will continue to support UBS along the way.
Fuck those banks. They have very little to do with our national pride. We make insanely good chocolate and cheese. Are very productive and friendly (yes we give alot of space to each other, so it might looks cold from the outside), we have one of the best public transport system and a high life standard and good social security. Those rich and greedy assholes that ruined the good banks we have can go rot in jail and pay back the money they stole from us ( we pay the difference via taxes)
Switzerland is definitely known for two things, neutrality and banking secrecy.
At least its not as bad as when the Migros and Coop would merge, or Lindt and Frey…

I’m still proud to be Swiss. It’s especially nice to have the word “Suisse” removed from the clown car on Paradeplatz.
You think banks are all our national pride is built upon? What a horrible slam sensationalistic clickbait headline. Guardian journalists really lack brainpower lately, or they do it on purpose to gain more attention, or for more sinister aims.
Also what about this “Other pillars of Switzerland’s self-image are also shaking” sentence? These traitors and enemies want Switzerland aligned to european / NATO / american interests, its sovereignty weakened, so they can eat our cake too, but there is only ONE way for this country, and it is absolute NEUTRALITY, to the point of protectionism and isolation. Who cares if we have less “stuff” and goods and trendy fast-food brands made outside. Who cares if some foreign-owned multinational companies have some less percentage points in sales from now on. One for all, all for one, means that the swiss people come first. Destroy the remaining banks if that helps keeping global interests away.
The article goes straight into the trash, while the journalist should be hanged upside down by his feet in some jail until some more blood flows to his overworked and drained neurons.

Bla bla bla Switzerland 🇨🇭 is still Switzerland with 2 big banks or only one. Worse was with the Swissair collapse that was a huge shock but we got over it…the fact here is that everyone are celebrating whatever can diminish Switzerland 🇨🇭 savoir-faire because they can not compete. This is an internal issue and will be solved by the Swiss authorities. All the rest is just bla bla bla
