Helsinki Highrise (Kalasatama)

  1. I was in a presentation where the architect and structural engineer were explaining different kind if details about the design of these towers. The architect told that his inspiration is from Moscow, where you approach the city through some bunch of towers similiar to this. I don’t know where, as I don’t know Moscow.

  2. It’s perhaps my favourite shot of these buildings. Mainly because it hides one somewhat offensive aspect of the towers — the grey exterior on one of earlier built ones. The fourth one currently being erected is much lighter in colour and looks better.

  3. The nighttime photo looks awesome.

During the daylight they look meh – almost unfinished.
And my grandparents moved in one of those towers. The quality is shit.

  4. Wow, is this what it’s like in Helsinki? Where is all the snow, looks so depressing. You should visit Oulu!

  5. Can someone in the know tell me where Helsinki is planning to go with this? Do they want to be a big metropolitan city with big skyscrapers eventually?
