let’s be honest. as a single person having to pay more than a married couple earning twice as much somewhat unfair.

  1. To my understanding your statement is just factually incorrect. There are certain deductions for children etc, but this also applies when you are single.

    Being married in itself doesn’t grant you any tax advantage. You might be charged less monthly due to tax card 2, but rest assured you are paying full price once the annual declaration comes around the corner.

    I would even argue that in case of a joint declaration, adding 2 50k salaries together to puts the joint salary in a much higher tax class

  2. How about when 1 partner works for EU institutions, other one for private sector, the one actually paying the taxes to Lux pays more, gets 1a tax class, coz the other partner does not contribute to Lux. So, no class 2.
