  1. ***From The Telegraph’s Jorg Luyken:***

No-limit speed signs have been stripped from Germany’s famously fast autobahns by Extinction Rebellion protesters.

Climate activists claim to have taken down 250 signs across the country in recent months.

“We are in the process of introducing speed limits across Germany in order to create more safety on our streets and as an immediate action against the climate crisis,” one activist said.

Police in Berlin have confirmed that 15 signs have been illegally dismantled on the city ring road in recent weeks and left by the side of the road.

On Wednesday, the activists delivered 18 of the signs to the transport ministry in Berlin.

Florian Zander, a spokesman for Extinction Rebellion said that “in times of climate and environmental crises, there are no more excuses for limit-free motorways.”

  2. Are they also pushing for increase of the speed in populated areas in order for engines to run more efficiently thus reducing emissions?

    No!? Interesting 🤔

  3. Just like in the USA, there are no consequences for these far left agitators, which emboldens them to keep doing things like spilling milk in supermarkets and throwing food at priceless works of art.

  4. Can we request they come to the US?

On the other hand, that may not be necessary; lawlessness with respect to speed limits is an American virtue.

  5. Messing with signage is kinda childish in my opinion and doesn’t achieve much in terms of getting your demands met.

  6. Interesting the signal in the photo means “end of restrictions” in my country but it does not apply to speed limits (max speed is determined by the type of road)

  7. Limiting car speeds is disgusting! I feel like setting some trash on fire, throwing some granite blocks into windows and spilling a truck of gravel on train tracks when speed limits get lowered. >:| Anyone who votes to have speed limit lowered should have their access to roads removed. Unsubscribed. Walk over a meadow to get to the road. FUCK!
It’s loss of honour in my eyes when politicians cave in to stay at home moms and old people who don’t ever have to get anywhere.
I’m all for green walls and pedestrian zones and everything. But you have to have SOME veins in the system. You can’t have a transportation system built on capillaries exclusively🤢🤮🤮🤮

  8. Does that sign also mean no speed in limit in Switzerland? Saw that when I was driving near Zurich but my car navi system said there was 120 limit?

  9. Doesn’t that result pretty hefty fine? Cops dont usually look kindly upon traffic sign theft cos it can have dangerous consequences.

  10. Its got nothing to do with the environment its about people who can afford fast cars etc, these people are commies its plain to see.

  11. Man, that’s a lot of criticism from the supposed “progressive” Reddit community. And of course none of it constructive. It seems that people just love to “well actually” and “what about” at activists and never want any real change.

In my opinion, great work. This is something I haven’t really put much thought into, and they got me thinking about it. Lower speed limits are a great idea in some cases. I already drive slower to save fuel and I’ve noticed huge savings with very little time lost. I think this definitely deserves attention, combined with incentives for driving less and using public transport.

  12. How does this help?

There’s a difference between protesting to draw attention to something critical for everyone and just doing dumb obnoxious shit!

People are just going to associate those protesting to draw awareness as insufferable shmucks!
