Calls for talks to end junior doctors’ strikes

  1. BMA has been calling for talks for over a year, and more recently since around October. They were told to come back with a mandate. Back they came with one; but Barclay didn’t have his from Rishi/Hunt to negotiate. Crooks.

  2. So been calling for talks since August.

Warned that a ballot will take place in November

Warned that the ballot had an overwhelming majority for industrial action in January.

Turned up for a meeting only to say I have no mandate.

Did not bother to turn up to meeting requests.

Made a ridiculous and insulting offer for talks at 21:45 on the Friday before the strike.

Now pointing to other unions that have not yet decided on the 5% offer. That quite frankly is insulting to them and zero to do with Jr Dr’s given they are not agenda to change and vastly out-skill that group I would not expect the same result.

Well sure we can talk if you take it seriously.

  3. Wait so the BMA isn’t even talking to the government yet, but we’re getting all these stories that a paltry 5% is enough to resolve the dispute? What’s going on?
