NHS unions have received a new pay offer and an announcement is expected this afternoon, Sky News understands.

Good, pay our fucking nurses. It’s a disgrace that this country is letting our healthcare staff fall into poverty.
Likely to push many people into higher pension contributions again. The unions seem blind to this issue.
The pension contribution bandings almost always lag behind pay rises. The 1.5% increase for April 2022, finally awarded in September 2022, ended up being a pay cut for many on the pension scheme. Lots of staff hoping for a much-needed lump sum in September got nothing due to pension bandings.
Also, there was nothing in the budget for the NHS so likely to be unfunded from government, meaning NHS providers have to fund it themselves by making cuts.
I wonder how large the real terms pay cut they’re offering this time is?
3.5%?!
Yo let’s remove that decimal point and then we can talk.
BBC News says it’s gone from a 3.5% increase to a close to 5% increase.
Doesn’t even cover inflation for this year, let alone what’s been lost in real terms for the last 5.
Lump sum and 5%, it will be rejected by the members
If it 5% and members are allowed to vote I be rejecting it
5%, up from 3.5%???
Really good negotiating guys…… A typical average nurse may see an extra 300quid over the year after tax. That enough to stop those nurses going to food banks….
I won’t be accepting this. Anything close to say 8% I would agree, but this is shit..
Did anyone else see the “press conference” announcing it? Sunaks smarmy grin about his great offer with a bunch of (rightly) very grumpy NHS staff just looking resigned to having to accept it because otherwise the NHS will just die a painful death
This shows how toothless the RCN are. Going in at 12+% and then telling their members to accept 5%.
They had so much more up their sleeves. The amount of unpaid hours nurses work, they could have forced the governments hand with a permanent goodwill strike…
Bearing in mind there’s a pay review coming up that was likely to recommend a 4% pay rise.
The government has basically gotten away with a 1% pay rise on top because, let’s be honest… we all know the pay review body will say no pay rise is needed after this 5% pay rise is implemented.
I feel sorry for all those hard working nurses who, ultimately, will continue to be under paid.
It’s actually unbelievable how useless our unions are.
