Streaming boom pushes big budget production spending in UK to record £6bn

  1. So how long before the “TV License” gets turned into a “streaming license” that anyone with an internet connection has to pay? BBC’s dwindling coffers are struggling to keep paying 10s of millions to its presenters…

  2. No surprises here. As an extra this has been one of my busiest years. Hopefully a lot more to come!

I’ve got an eye one the big companies buying and possibly monopolising our studios, but hey as long as they provide a coach from Euston to set, I’ll keep from complaining.

  3. Its awesome to see how much of a hub for film the UK is. We’ve currently got Disney on a long term deal (plus massive expansion) of Pinewood, Netflix over at Shepperton (also expanding it, spending billions) and Sky being forced to up their game over at Elstree with a brand new film studio. Interestingly Amazon is the only big player not investing in studio infrastructure here.

  4. I was surprised to find out that even Aliens was filmed in the UK in an old power station in England.
