NHS website crashes as thousands try to book vaccinations after Boris Johnson announcement

  1. Lot of places been giving them out for weeks, GP sent out a text days after new variant being reaching our shores. Very glad I got mine early !

  2. Right now feels like a lottery. After waiting 30 minutes in the queue, at every screen you might be randomly sent back to the first screen and have to input all the information again. Took me one hour to get through (excluding queuing time).

  3. Because the people back Boris and want to do their bit.

I booked my booster after his announcement.

  4. I checked randomly last night and booked myself in by chance.

Girlfriend did the same this morning and nearly cancelled because she got sent an email about third doses and panicked she’d booked the wrong thing as a glitch and would be turned away.

No matter how much I tried to explain it wouldn’t have let her book if she wasn’t eligible for a shot. Because it wouldn’t let me over the past several weeks. She eventually calmed down

  5. I was trying to book online 2 weeks ago and all the appointments were fully booked. I called up and after an hour they told me the same and to look out for drop in places but he admitted the site hadn’t been updated for days. lol

  6. I’m just thankful everyone in my house (myself included) has been able to get their boosters before all this went down.

  7. Managed to book mine on Friday night even though it was a couple of days earlier than the site should of allowed me being an over 30 👍 not looking forward to having an aching arm for 2 days.

  8. Long story short I was vaccinated in Spain but can’t prove it due to a clerical error (I live here now), so now I can’t go in places and when asked for the QR code I look like some mental anti vaxxer as literally everyone is vaccinated, so I’ve got to get it done again. 4 x Pfizer super mutant incoming….

  9. The government have come out saying what people want to hear and executed it in the worst way possible.

I got vaccinated abroad and so before I can even get a booster (and my 6 months is coming up very soon since my 2nd jab) I have to get records verified. This means going in person to an appointment. There were non available so was told to try again intermittently. Absolute joke.

Now that this announcement of boosters for all has been made I cannot even access the website anymore! I get lumped in the same queue as everyone else trying to book a vaccine appointment which isn’t what I am trying to do! Yesterday I had to go into some waiting area before I could even join the queue and there was about 20,000 people in front when I did join the queue. Then went round in circles as the website is so buggy. Gave up and have been trying repeatedly, including through the night. But the website is just so damn buggy I keep going round in circles.

Keep trying 119 and select the options to get my vaccine record updated but instead the line (after waiting 40 mins) keeps taking me through to the vaccine booking service. They tell me to hang up and try again cos they cannot transfer me.

Absolute joke this whole thing. Looking like I may have to fly back to the country where I got my vaccines just to get the booster and given how difficult travelling is at the moment I am right pissed. My EU vaccine certificate will expire soon if I do not.

  10. I know it’s annoying and a bit of a shitshow trying to book, but the sheer amount of people trying is a really good sign tbh.

  11. I had the issue where the nhs website still only allowing me to book if you have a health condition when under 39, is this still the case?

  12. They had Riverside Stadium listed as a booster walk in centre for Sunday but it was wrong and appointment only- myself and hundreds of others were sent away yesterday.
The Government announcements had no planning behind them, so they really were just a political distraction, regardless if they are genuinely necessary or not.

  13. In Wales. Different NHS. Got a letter telling me where and when (last Saturday). Done.

Why the panic in Engerland? Can they not just work it out from your medical records and tell you when you get it?

  14. Was really happy when I managed to get one booked for this morning. Only to turn up and find a queue of hundreds and being told that walk-ins and bookings have to join the same queue. So what’s the fucking point of booking

  15. I still haven’t had the first jab and with luck I’ll never have to. Luckily bojo is still not saying vax will be compulsory to work.
