Unions close to pay deal with government to avert more NHS strikes

  1. A one off payment and a ~3.5% rise might be enough of a bribe to swing a strike continuance vote for now, but it’s a shit deal that would only kick the can down the road. Let’s hope that offer is well above 3.5%.

  2. “The government offer includes a bonus likely to be in excess of £1,000 for this year and a rise of close to 5% for the next financial year starting in April.”

So only just short of a slap in face? This is really going to end the strikes 🙄

  3. Nursing unions are historically notorious for lacking the appetite for industrial action. Now that we are here, we need to keep going. Anything under 10٪ is a fucking insult.

The Tory biased media keep feeding people the same lie about lack of money. There’s money, but they want to avoid a precedent.
I fear the worst. I’m worried that the unions will cave in.
