Met police on ‘last chance’ as Casey report to condemn failure to change

  1. When it inevitably “fucks up” again they will only end up rebranding it before allowing it to continue its corrupt Mafiosi activities – just like when the homicidal SPG became the equally homicidal (only bigger and more well-funded) TSG.

  2. The Metropolitan Police ( I refuse to use the, let’s sound trendy abbreviation) are an out of control, unmanageable national disgrace.

  3. It’ll come as literally 0 surprise to anyone in the met.

    > A draft of the Casey report has gone to Rowley and is said to have been met with shock at its findings and concern at the further damage it may do to public confidence in the Met.

I’m sure the career Met officer Mark Rowley, who served for a number of years on the Met Management Board and had a hand in making many of the decisions that got us here, is absolutely the man needed to change the Met and fix what is fundamentally a chronic case of mismanagement and failing leadership. Truly fresh blood and leadership.

    > One senior source said Rowley’s turnaround plan had a year to show some signs it was working. Another said the commissioner had two years to show progress.

Lol they’re already setting him up as a fall guy. Utterly impossible timeframes. If the Met is fixable (imo in practical terms it isn’t), then it’ll take decades.

    > she will raise the question of what should happen to the Met if it cannot reform.

Will be interesting to see if there are any actual proposals of what should happen rather than nebulous nonsense about scrapping the met or minor tinkering around the edges.

In any case, I look forward to reading the report and seeing it vindicate things we’ve been saying internally for years.

  4. Even when the met do stuff I really do question it as a service because its merely pointless. The only time they turned up moderately quick was when a group of lads had broken into the communal area in my block of flats, broken the custom neon lights (written text so cost a few grand), kicked down doors, kicked walls and drew on the walls… the police didn’t give a shit until they heard one of the guys threaten to knife me when I told them to leave and they had to pay for it…. long story short pc plod and the gang turn up, don’t even remove the lads but just stand with them for nearly an hour!!!!! They started fucking playing pool… this was all on cctv and then eventually they all left and I asked about the damage and the police said ask the building manager… absolute fucking joke (the building manager said they wiuld wait to hear from the police but the police did not contact them so its being stuck in a loop).. And the resolution was nothing, my service charge aswell as all the other flats went up a few months later, £50 more per month for fuck all, this country is literally an overpriced shit hole these days, I own the flat but the service charge is getting near the price of rent for nothing.

  5. It’s too big and unweildy.

Keep the same internal IT systems for sharing case files and offender intelligence but split them into 6 forces with 6 chief constables independent of each other.

NW NE SE SW (all response with CID attached for CID crimes), DP (diplomatic protection for parliament and royals) and LT (London Traffic) with funding coming directly related to volumes of crimes in areas.

You have more DV – we will fund those units more

This place has more robbery – ok more robbery squads here.

Traffic accross the capitol gets funded as they actually deal with road death etc and are needed despite people mostly worrying they will get a ticket for low level offences.

The met is 30,000 officers +. A single commissioner could never manage change that big. It needs breaking down into smaller tasks.

  6. Don’t get why people blame the police for this. All public services are falling apart under the Tories. The Met are doing their best.
