  1. >In November, she was relocated from Brighton to detention accommodation in Tower Hamlets. Ann now commutes 90 minutes each way from London to Brighton to attend school and get back each day in time to sign in. Her head teacher, Claire Jarman, said Ann was never late, attended every day and had not missed one exam.

Sounds like a model pupil to me.

  2. ‘At the moment, the accommodation they have in Tower Hamlets means that there’s mould, they wear masks inside their accommodation every day.’

Ignoring everything else how is this even legal?

  3. Jesus christ. When I was doing my GCSEs, my biggest concern outside of school was getting a boyfriend, or who I was going to be raiding with that weekend. Not being fucking deported.

  4. well, Home Office has already rejected thus shouldnt even be referred as an “asylum seeker”, it is just a normal work then, those get rejected get sent back.

  5. Just a reminder to everyone, the real problem isn’t a bright hard working 16 year old facing deportation, despite having nowhere to go, the real problem is BBC sports presenters talking about it.

To solve this problem we only need to abolish the BBC.

  6. Jesus. Kids these days.

They’ll do anything to get out of an exam.

But all jokes aside, besides this government being morally bankrupt. The ploy to shift the conversation to those “evil refugees” is indicative of where they are right now.

They’ve got fuck all left to offer. They’ve got a backlog of scandal after scandal. And this is what they’re resorting to? Pathetic.

  7. This is why our system is messed up. A young person, trying to better themselves for a brighter future who could be a real asset to the country being thrown out because they didn’t fall out of a British woman’s vagina.

  8. So despite living in unsuitable accommodation, having the threat of deportation hanging over her head and living 90 minutes from school on a very expensive route, she is still going into school daily and hasn’t missed a single exam?

This sounds like the sort of person we should want in our country. Who does deporting her help?

  9. > A girl who fled Sudan with her mother and sister after family members were arrested for joining in anti-government protests could be deported.

She’s obviously suffered enough and she sounds like she’d be an amazing asset to the country. Could we keep her and choose one random Tory MP to deport instead?

They’re comfortable with the idea of stripping someone of their citizenship even if they were born and raised here and have no connection to any other country, so I’m sure they won’t complain too much.

  10. enforcing brexit a tad late aren’t we tory scum? now it’s embarrassing when you start deporting people and destroying small boats.

how about we deport all these tory cunts back to wherever their offshore bank accounts are.

  11. Scrap the asylum system and let everyone in. Will keep reddit happy for a day or two.

Just let me setup an SPV first with some BTLs

  12. I’m beyond the point of allowing any benefit of the doubt to the system when we see repeated decisions like this – they are cruelty for cruelties sake and I don’t believe anyone with a conscience can possibly last working in an environment where they happen so frequently.

Sadly that probably means we are left with the sort of people who masturbate themselves to sleep over headlines like this and are proud of themselves, which means it will only get worse.

Needless to say the current bill won’t make the slightest difference (unless it makes things worse in some unimaginable way)

  13. Not being funny, but what does it matter what her age is or whether she’s doing exams?

If they are not legitimate refugees, then they can’t stay. Roles are rules and shouldn’t be bent for emotion.

Sounds like the government are investigating the situation, and the family are concerned that it doesn’t fit with our refugee criteria. Which would mean they are not refugees.

I can be concerned for their well being, as I am for the billions of other people living day to day. Actually, the family sounds kinda wealthy (ability to commute), maybe there are political concerns. I’m sure that will be taken into consideration by the authorities.

  14. Well if we let her finish her GCSEs then we will have …to …..let…….them…..all……..finish………….their………………..educ…………

  15. >A girl who fled Sudan with her mother and sister after family members were arrested for joining in anti-government protests could be deported.

Consider that the Socialist/Communist agitators of the early 20th century in Britain had practically no options for fleeing to more politically/socially liberal countries with welfare systems. They, and their families, stuck it out- persistence is how change is made. I don’t personally agree with/relate to their politics, but I admire their persistence and willingness to stand up for what they believed in despite the legal/social risks.

Will change happen in 3rd-world/fundamentalist conservative countries if we open take in all “refugees” made so from their political/social protest activities?

  16. But surely she is an Albania 50yr old male, pretending to be a 6yr old ?

Well, according to the usuall fascist press, and bigot rhetoric ….

  17. >A girl who fled Sudan with her mother and sister after family members were arrested for joining in anti-government protests

that is on all levels fucked up. Did they actually do anything illegal??

  18. This girl and her mother and sister are being deported. The UK government statistics on those receiving asylum is already massively skewed towards men. Girls account for only 11% of child asylum seekers. And women account for about 36% of asylum seekers. The UK government asylum laws need reformed and they need to make their policies more fair to women and girls. Keep in mind women and girls are often abused in certain countries just for being female and they should therefore have more claim to asylum, not less as the statistics show.

  19. That’s incredibly sad and absurd! Poor girl let her just get on with her exam, it must be hard enough to study with such uncertainty. We let the likes of Boris off for having a party while we all stayed indoors or couldn’t see our families they should recognise that and not be so unilateral in how they apply laws. We should let genuine cases of such asylum with such young people who still have a chance in life it’s not that difficult to have some grace here.

  20. Utterly appalling, its like Braverman and her supporters are actively trying to find new and exciting ways to be reprehensible.

  21. Borders are arbitrary and unfortunately for many of us, humans don’t get to choose where they find their geneses.

Some of these comments are unjustified and lacking in empathy. The arguments you’re making sound exactly like those of your racist parents.

  22. Lol. Having to commute 90 min to school and live in a detention centre during critical school years – world away from the school experiences of Rishi, Braverman, Patel or other cabinet Tories.

    Meritocracy, yeh?
