So the UK Will definitely enter a recession this year then
I love his optimism. Also the optimism when they think we will hit 2.9% inflation rate by the end of this year. However, I don’t quite believe it.
Dear god, best start stuffing the mattress with cash now.
I mean technically an ongoing depression brought about by ongoing austerity policies is not the act of entering a recession
Cant be a recession if they are dragging the disabled and over 50s outta retirement etc
More slaves for the machine
Well that sure is a weight off of my mind. Imagine having been so stupid as to base my fears and trepidations on reality rather than the word of my betters. What a tool I have been.
Technically he may be correct but we’ve had and will have anaemic growth for the foreseeable.
“We’re setting it up perfectly for when Labour get in so we can keep the narrative that Labour crash the economy”
A politician made a promise?
Wow, this is worthless.
I hope the recession knows that too and listens to Jeremy
I honestly don’t believe a word that comes out from this Government
Fuck this guy why no free child hours now, we need it now!!
What does it even matter if wages are below inflation by a massive amount and quality of life is just generally worse?
Maybe we can ‘um actually we’re not technically in a recession’ ourselves into better living standards
I will marry Elizabeth Olsen, says me. An average redditor.
We can’t go into a recession if we never exited one
Will the economy do well though? Avoiding a recession is one thing, flourishing is another though. With living standards still below 2008 levels and wages failing to keep up with inflation, hanging our hopes on growth of less than 0.5% is hardly encouraging.
Love how he was on his feet saying this as one of Europe’s largest banks was collapsing 🤣
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “technically” said so many times in one day… Like gee we get it might look good on your paper form H*nt but it is in no way a good indicator that our economy is healthy or even alive at this point!
Hes says this when concurrently a major global bank teeters on the edge, 2 large US banks have just collapsed and the whole banking sector globally is having a massive dump.
I’m getting a strong smell of aged milk about your comment, Jeremy.
Coming from the same government that’s in denial about remarks made about how good Brexit would be or that apparently needs to spend a week tearing into a football commentators opinion on government policy rather than the policy it self,
Or one that can’t seem to hold onto any integrity, allowing for massive disinformation to spew unchallenged.
Mr Hunt I’ll believe it whe I see it
_”Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said the economy would shrink this year but avoid recession.”_
What the fuck is a recession then you nimwit.
Yeah, because we entered a recession in 2008 and it’s still going.
Well now I feel better about struggling to pay energy bills, food shopping, increased mortgage rates, council tax and the value of my income plumeting. HAZAR THE PEASANTS WAIL!!!
Can’t enter a recession this year if we entered it last year.
He doesn’t know this.
If the US goes tits up we all do.
The UK will not enter recession because us brainy ppl at number 10 have decided to change the definition of recession.
Carry on plebs.
We are deep in a recession. What the fuck is this cunt on ab….oh nevermind he’s protecting the rich.
Either way the countries in a shite state of affairs
It’s really weird how the UK economy tends to go to the brink of a technical recession, but somehow the data manages to show its been avoided (even if it’s edited later to do so).
Oh we will, as soon as millions can barely afford their electric bill from next month and anything else other than basic bills and food
You mean the recession we’re already in? Well yeah we won’t enter it, we’re in it.
